Community Food Share, KGNU Community Radio, and WOW! Children’s Museum will continue working with SVP Boulder County to deepen their respective community impacts.
Social Venture Partners (SVP) Boulder County announces renewed investments in three local nonprofits – Community Food Share, KGNU Community Radio, and WOW! Children’s Museum – through its multi-year Catapult program. SVP’s longest-running initiative, Catapult is a pro bono consulting investment that aims to strengthen local nonprofits from the inside out – from board governance and leadership development to strategy, fundraising, communications, technology and more.
Beginning with in-person information sessions, Letters of Inquiry and a conversation with each Catapult applicant’s Board of Directors – followed by full Requests for Proposals, and organizational capacity and leadership assessments – the SVP selection committee previously identified opportunities for impact with the following Investees, each of whom are in different stages of the Catapult program. One highlight for each of the renewing investments:
Community Food Share
“The Catapult program has allowed us to align our board and staff with a new strategic plan,” says Michelle Orge, Executive Director of Louisville-based Community Food Share. “As a result, we’re more focused on where we want to go in the next three to five years.
In 2019, we’ll work together on engagement of businesses, communications, and more. This month Community Food Share will receive a $12,500 general operating grant from SVP.
KGNU Community Radio
“The Catapult program has been instrumental in supporting an improved organizational structure, implementing much needed technical updates, and providing professional consultation on our core strategic initiatives,” says Station Manager Tim Russo. “We’re excited to delve deeper into the relationship with SVP, and we greatly anticipate our second year as an investee to be results- and outcomes-driven.”
In 2019, we’ll work together on human resources, technology, and more. This month KGNU will receive an $18,500 general operating grant from SVP.
WOW! Children’s Museum
As SVP Lead Partner working with WOW!, Vicky Johns says the organization has gone through “a big re-focusing. The organization is now more clearly and intentionally education-focused, including greater outreach to our Latino community,” she says. “Next year, WOW! will work to bring to life its early childhood vision in ways that get our community excited … as well as raise its profile in the community, especially among donors.”
In 2019, we’ll work together on board development/recruitment and more. This month WOW! Children’s Museum will receive an $11,500 general operating grant from SVP.
