What led you to SVP?
Impactful and engaged philanthropy; dollars and time working together; getting to know the community.
What do you most look forward to / hope to accomplish as a Partner?
Helping our investees improve, have sustainable impact and thrive.
What do you want others to know about you?
What’s important to me: family; being active and out in the world (running, swimming, hiking, walking); reading and writing; philanthropy where I can help build community through mutual engagement.
What do you most value in your friends?
Warmth and intelligence, and caring for each other.
What is your most marked characteristic?
I have had to become strong in overcoming challenges when I thought I couldn’t survive them. I like to challenge myself to take risks.
When and where were you happiest?
There was a moment in time, a moment out of time, at my younger son’s recent wedding. Alex chose his brother (a philosophy professor) to officiate at the wedding. Christopher’s son, my one-year-old grandson, was ring-bearer. As the small procession started, my daughter-in-law and I each held one of Solomon’s hands to help him walk down the aisle. He started running so Kate and I joined him, running as the wedding crowd joined in the lightness of that instantaneous moment. Pure joy to me as mother and grandmother.
