Safe Shelter Continues To Shine Light on Domestic Violence

True to form, Safe Shelter of St Vrain Valley had a busy summer – always a busy season for domestic abuse organizations. A surge in shelter numbers comes with an intensity of getting individuals safe, finding them housing and helping guide them towards self-sufficiency.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every year Safe Shelter hosts:

Additionally, this SVP Investee since 2013 is preparing for strategic planning this Fall. Says Jackie List, Safe Shelter’s Executive Director: “We are excited to begin this process. Strategic planning offers an opportunity to examine current practices, brainstorm ways in which we can better serve survivors, and explore options for organizational sustainability.”

Earlier this year, Safe Shelter’s SVP Lead Partner did the leg work of connecting the organization with a facilitator well-versed in strategic planning specifically for domestic violence victim service organizations. Through “The Vital Project,” a Special Project of the Domestic Violence Program, Safe Shelter will receive top notch guidance in planning for the future of the organization.

This, paired with executive coaching Jackie is receiving through SVP, is priming the organization for success. Coaching has “…been a revelation. My coach has acted as a sounding board and encouraged fresh insight in categorizing and prioritizing the needs of the organization as we look ahead,” Jackie reflects. And for that journey, everyone at SVP is wishing them nothing but the best.
