Boulder, CO (September 29, 2026) – Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) and the Longmont Community Foundation have endorsed 1A Brighter Start Boulder County, a November ballot measure designed to strengthen our local child care system. The two organizations will co-host a free community conversation about the measure on October 15 in Lafayette.
According to the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County, child care in Boulder County costs families more than $23,000 per child each year. That cost does not cover what providers need to pay competitive wages. Staff leave for better-paying jobs, programs cut capacity, and families lose options. As a result, the child care system has become squeezed from both ends.
The October event will bring together community members, child care providers, and local leaders to learn and listen. Attendees will hear directly from providers and families about where the system is failing, learn how 1A would work, and ask questions about what the measure would mean for Boulder County.
