Welcome New Partner: Jane McCabe

It is a joy to introduce our community to Jane McCabe, a new SVP Partner joining us here in Boulder County.

Jane recently retired after a career as a Head of School and Executive Director, and she’s brought that experience straight to nonprofit work. She’s especially drawn to food insecurity, housing, and early childhood education, three issues that touch Boulder County families in different but connected ways. Having spent years in early childhood education, Jane has seen firsthand how much of a difference quality preschool makes for children and families over the long run. And she knows that when a family can’t reliably feed or house themselves, the toll shows up everywhere, in their health and in the health of the whole community.

Jane’s own path to this work wasn’t a straight line. She trained as a Mechanical Engineer and Materials Scientist and never worked a day as an engineer, but she’ll tell you the degree taught her how to think, work hard, and solve problems, skills that followed her through a genuinely varied career spanning medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and education.

Jane is especially proud of guiding Shining Mountain Waldorf School through an approved campus master plan with the City of Boulder, which culminated in a brand new high school opening in 2024, the kind of project that takes years of persistence and a lot of stakeholder wrangling to pull off.

That instinct for building strong organizations is exactly what Jane hopes to bring to SVP. If she can help Boulder County Executive Directors and boards become more effective, knowledgeable, and successful in their roles, she’ll know she’s made a difference.

Jane credits her parents, who were extremely generous with their time and financial resources, for shaping how she thinks about education and helping others. She’s also inspired closer to home by her partner, Dan Massey, who has launched cybersecurity education programs in the St. Vrain School District, at CU Boulder, and in underserved areas across Colorado.

Outside of work, Jane is knitting up a storm for the many family members currently having babies, deepening her yoga practice, and reading about mythology and how it shows up in our own life journeys. On weekends, you might find her catching live music at Longmont breweries like Wibby, Left Hand, and Oscar Blues.

Above all, Jane feels enormous gratitude for her two children, now in their mid-20s, who inspire her every day to keep showing up as the best mother she can be.

Please join us in welcoming Jane McCabe to SVP Boulder County. We are so glad she’s here!
