Boulder County CareConnect protects the security, comfort and independence of seniors and adults with disabilities and manages the senior corp of volunteers in Boulder County. It’s an organization helping seniors age in place and maintain a high quality of life – and, it’s also a crucial part of our emergency response and recovery system in Boulder County.
On September 15, CareConnect offices were flooded, the roof was compromised and they had to permanently move out of Frasier Meadows. Their clients are in special need right now, and CareConnect is focused on contacting all clients to identify their flood related needs, then mobilizing volunteers to support both those needs and other disaster response needs in the community.
Due to the generosity and quick response of our community, CareConnect is now temporarily housed in Boulder Community Hospital offices near the Foothills campus, has a new IT system, a new phone system, and is up and running again. A local real estate developer is working to help CareConnect secure permanent office space. Although much was donated, relocation expenses will run into the thousands of dollars.
SVP has provided connections and recommendations this week, and the Board voted to make an immediate grant of $1,500 to CareConnect to assist with relocation expenses. We strongly encourage our Partners to help double our gift by visiting the CareConnect donation page.
Additionally, CareConnect needs volunteers to staff their phone bank and assist clients with clean-up, fix-its, and medical appointment transport. Please contact Andrew Merrill to learn more and pitch in.
