Boulder County nonprofits will receive approximately $300,000 in pro bono consulting, education, and leadership development and at least $75,000 in cash grants from Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) in 2016. SVP elevates philanthropy to create a network of stronger, more sustainable Boulder County nonprofits through collaborative relationships because strong nonprofits deliver better results.
“SVP members voted to invest in Attention Homes, Voices for Children CASA, InReach, WOW! Children’s Museum, and Community Food Share because of the vital work each group is doing for local community members.” says Jennie Arbogash, SVP Executive Director. “We are especially excited to be supporting two of these organizations for the first time.”
Members gathered at their bi-annual meeting on Tuesday, May 10th to select this year’s investments and celebrate the successful completion of a three-year relationship with Center for ReSource Conservation (CRC). Over those three years, SVP and CRC worked on nine consulting projects at a value of $201,600. “In my mind, the partnership with SVP has been exclusively positive.” said Neal Lurie, CRC Executive Director. “The work meant millions of gallons of water saved, pounds diverted from the landfill, and other resources protected.”
During SVP’s investment due process 40 nonprofits attended informational sessions, 17 submitted initial applications, and four were selected as finalists. Three current Investees were also considered for another year of support. New finalists WOW! Children’s Museum and Community Food Share were selected for full investments of pro bono consulting and $10,000 cash grants. Finalists Temple Grandin School and Cal-Wood Education Center were strong contenders and will receive $500, eight free BOARDS WITH BRAINS sessions, and twelve sessions with an executive coach – to support their continued development. SVP encourages local donors and volunteers to support these two incredible community assets.
In 2016, SVP will work with investees on projects such as strategic planning, marketing, fundraising, board development, human resources, and program evaluation. 2016 investment details, as well as a complete list of SVP’s investment since 2000 are available on the website.
