Giving Spotlight: Claire Clurman, Alumni Nonprofit Participant

“I’m incredibly grateful that – during my time at Attention Homes – I not only experienced the impact of SVP’s investment in our nonprofit, but also the personal and professional support that SVP provides,” says Claire Clurman, former Executive Director of Attention Homes, a previous SVP investee.

“What SVP did for us, through the Partners we worked with, was help us redefine our organizational structure and our organization culture. We did lots of work on mission, vision and values – and we were able to maintain those priorities as we advanced employee retention, and invested in our staff to ensure they were supported.

“Working with SVP really allowed us to strengthen our organization, create development and leadership opportunities for staff, and build bridges in terms of networking. Working with SVP also brings to light the issues and challenges of some of our most vulnerable community members, and helps provide connections and opportunities for improved understanding and support.”

Specifically, Attention Homes expects to serve more than 600 young people by the end of this year through a street outreach program, a daytime drop-in center and overnight shelter. Services connect vulnerable youth to education, employment, housing, family reunification, mental health and substance abuse support.

Adds Claire, who has also donated to SVP on Colorado Gives Day in recent years, “For me, Colorado Gives Day is a wonderful opportunity to honor local nonprofits that you’re personally connected to, and that are doing impactful work in the community.

“It’s important to me to give back to SVP for the work they did on behalf of Attention Homes. I’m also a firm believer that the overall health of our community benefits from collaboration between the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.”

Indeed, that’s one way to describe both the work of SVP Boulder County and the purpose of Colorado Gives Day. Special this year, SVP’s Board of Directors has contributed a matching fund of $5,000 – meaning your gift will be doubled! Please consider SVP in your year-end giving and pre-schedule your gift today by visiting Colorado Gives Day.
