Have you been looking for the right opportunity to learn about board governance, develop your leadership skills, serve SVP’s mission, and create long-lasting impact? Membership on SVP’s Board of Directors may be just the thing for you. SVP is looking for one new Board Member to serve a three year term beginning January, 2017.
For the first time in SVP Boulder County’s history, Board service is being opened up beyond Partner membership to include representatives of alumni Investees. “Integrity and quality are two of SVP’s highest values,” says Jennie Arbogash, Executive Director. “Including a stronger client voice (alumni Investee) in SVP’s leadership helps us stay true to our mission and walk our talk.”
The Board of Directors has a duty of care, loyalty and obedience – it works to develop and oversee mission, vision, strategy, financial well-being, integrity, accountability, planning, itself, the executive director, and more. Board members are expected to contribute 6-10 hours a month including attending monthly board meetings, serving on at least one committee, representing the organization, and being active in additional activities.
Individuals who have been active SVP Partners for 6 months or longer OR who have been engaged with SVP through working at an Alumni Investee are welcome to apply. No previous board experience is required.
The nomination process includes:
- an online application (due by August 25),
- two-way interview conversation with the Nominating Committee (scheduled between Sept 15-30),
- attendance at the October 27, 2016, board meeting,
- approval by the Board (Oct 27),
- and vote by the full partnership (Nov 9).
All applicants will be contacted by the Nominating Committee. Review the SVP Board job description and apply online by August 25, 2016. Contact Jennie Arbogash with questions.
