Letitia and Chris Calvert met in front of the Engineering Center on campus at CU-Boulder in 1992, where she was a Boulder native engineering student, and he was fresh off active duty. They raised two boys in Boulder with both graduating from Fairview and joining the Military. “All of a sudden, we were retired from corporate America and empty nesters, so we started looking for a way to learn about and support the local nonprofit community. The Community Foundation of Boulder County said that SVP was the organization making a difference in the county,” said Chris.
As new SVP Partners, Chris and Letitia have jumped into new projects and are learning more about SVP and local nonprofits. Chris has joined the new Strategic Planning Resource Team and will be working with Coal Creek Meals on Wheels on their upcoming strategic plan. Letitia has joined the Tech Resource Team and has also become involved with the YWCA’s STEM E3 program for girls.
Chris comes to SVP with over 30 years of experience in defensive information security, split between the defense/intelligence community and commercial enterprise. He served 10 years in the US Army, worked for the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense Joint Staff, and held senior leadership positions in large companies (IBM & HP) and startups. He founded two cyber security companies, one bootstrapped and the other venture backed. As a security practitioner he designed, built, and managed security operations centers and incident response teams for eight of the global Fortune-20.
Letitia joins SVP after recently retiring from Kaiser Permanente, where she was a technical director responsible for the deployment of “Zero Trust” networking to ensure medical device security across their hospital and clinic system. She also worked for IBM and Lockheed Martin in a variety of security architecture and technical leadership roles. She specializes in the global deployment of complex security systems.
“Letitia and I both spent our careers in cyber security, so we are trying to figure out ways to share that experience with the larger local nonprofit sector,” added Chris.
Please join us in welcoming Chris and Letitia Calvert to SVP Boulder County!
